In June 2017, the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a notice on comprehensively promoting the construction and development of the Mobile Internet of Things (NB-IoT). The notice mentioned that the construction of wide coverage, large connectivity, and low-power mobile Internet of Things (NB-IoT) will be comprehensively promoted, and the goal is to achieve universal and in-depth coverage of the NB-IoT network across the country by 2020.

Once the NB-IoT network technology led by Huawei, ZTE and other manufacturers was launched, it received strong support from the Chinese government and operators. Currently, the three major operators have commercialized more than one million NB-IoT base stations and built a large NB-IoT network.

With the arrival of the explosive period of NB-IoT network, the gas instrument industry is the first to benefit and has become the first million-level application market. In 2018, my country's gas meter sales exceeded 46 million units, of which IoT meters accounted for about 6%. It is expected that by 2022, domestic gas meter sales will be close to 60 million units, of which 15 million are IoT gas meters, accounting for 25%.

In addition, the mandatory replacement of gas meters determines that there is also a huge demand in the existing market. Our country stipulates that the service life of gas meters using natural gas as the medium shall not exceed 10 years. From 2008 to 2017, my country sold 250 million gas meters, which will create a huge replacement space for NB-IoT gas meters.
